Moroccan Spice Blog Hop

Welcome, hoppers! This month we are featuring Club Scrap's November 2015 collection Moroccan Spice, and what a great collection it is! When I received my shipment, I couldn't stop saying, "Wow, wow, wow!" as I discovered all the papers, stamps, fibers, and embellishments in my pizza box. The designers at CS really did a fabulous job when they put together this one!

If you are hopping along, you got here from Annette's blog. To get back to the beginning where you will find a list of all the bloggers participating this month, hop on over to the Club Scrap blog.

Time got away from me this month, as my husband and I took a 10-day trip to Australia and New Zealand to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. (Hoping to get pictures developed and onto scrapbook pages soon!) While we were gone, my husband lost a friend in a car accident, and his wife has been on my heart lately. She came to mind as I was looking through the kit elements for inspiration for this hop project, and I decided to make a sympathy card to send to her.

I love ink sprays, and Tattered Angels' Glimmer Mists are a favorite in my art studio. For this project, I used butternut squash, moss, and bronze. (I have high aspirations to own every single color, but I digress.)

I placed the Moroccan Spice filigree masking stencil on the front of an ivory card and sprayed with the three inks.

While the card front was drying, I stamped the large background stamp from the Art Nouveau stamp sheet with Club Scrap's Earth, Moss, and Topaz hybrid inks, extending the stamp a bit so it was long enough for the width of the card. I decided that this stamped strip would wrap over the top of the card, so I scored the piece to make folding easier.

From the Borders & Backgrounds stamp sheet, I chose the medallion and stamped it once with Topaz ink and again with Moss. I cut out the center of the Moss image to create a layer.

I just love the sequin and brads that were included in the Moroccan Spice embellishment pack. I layered a clear sequin onto three teardrop sequins and attached to the Moss medallion with a brad. The Topaz and Moss medallions were added to a square of Moroccan Spice Green with the foam adhesive circles that Club Scrap recently started carrying in their store. I love how these circles add just enough depth--so many brands of foam adhesive are too thick for my taste, especially for multiple layers.

And that is my project. I hope you enjoyed this stop on the hop. Our next hopper is Jill. Click HERE to check out what she has created with the Moroccan Spice collection.

Until next time, hoppers!

It's a BIG DEAL!

Welcome to my stop on this month's Club Scrap blog hop featuring the February 2014 kit Big Deal. (See elements of the kit HERE.)

If you got here from Tiare's blog, then you are hopping right along. If you get lost along the way, or you want to start back at the beginning, go to the Club Scrap Creates blog.  There's a list of all of this month's participants there.

When my kit arrived, I immediately noticed the gorgeous colors and unique textures of the papers. Photos can never do justice to paper textures, but you can see the beautiful colors in this picture.
For the blog hop, I opted to do another canvas art project. You can see the one I made in December for the Gnome for the Holidays blog hop HERE. Below is my Big Deal canvas art--perfect for Valentine's Day or year-round!

I started with a white 6x6 canvas. To distress the parts that would be visible, I first inked with Club Scrap's Sandstone hybrid ink, then I added Earth ink on top. I like the two-tone, aged effect this gives.

For my base paper, I chose the Tan Plain from the kit, cut to 5.5x5.5". It has a raised "Swiss Dot" pattern on it that is ideal for inking! After distressing the edges with my Tonic paper distressing tool, I ran the Earth ink pad over the surface and edges of the paper.

The focal image was made with two stamps. The card background stamp is from the Borders & Backgrounds sheet. To keep it light, I inked with Sandstone ink.
The verse is found on the Collection sheet of rubber. I inked with Club Scrap's India Black ink and sprinkled Hematite embossing powder (found in the Tribal kit) over the words. I love the look of heat-embossing--and it adds even more texture to my project. :-)

Another stamped and embossed element--the scroll image, also found on the Borders & Backgrounds unmounted rubber sheet.

After cutting out the scrolls, I glued them on with CS Bookbinding Glue.  Ribbon (from the Big Deal embellishment pack) and some brads from my stash layer on even more texture.
To add to the love theme, I stamped hearts from the Collection stamps onto the Red Pearl paper and added red brads from my stash. This canvas makes a festive home decor element for the month of February, though I might just leave it out year-round.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today. I hope you enjoyed seeing my creation and are inspired by the textures in this kit. The next stop on the blog hop is Marya's blog HERE.

Until next time,

Lisa

Baby Wipe Technique

Reinkers + Baby wipes = Cool stamping technique!

The creative ladies at Club Scrap Creates have a great tutorial on their blog. They are challenging us to try this technique, and I hope you will give it a try!

I don't need to recreate the steps for you, because you can find the complete tutorial here, so I'll just show you my creations.

First, I played with the large flower stamp from Hopes, since the tutorial mentions using solid stamps. The top two samples are made by getting ink directly from the inked baby wipe. For the bottom two, I used a separate wipe to pick up the ink from the inked baby wipe and apply it to the stamp. My deep colors are now pastels!

This stamp from Hopes works well, too.

So does the large feather stamp from Take Wing! Again, I applied ink directly from the inked baby wipe, then got a pastel effect using a second wipe to apply ink to the stamp.

The tutorial also mentions using a second baby wipe to apply ink to card stock in various ways. I like the middle one especially; in fact, I tore that piece of paper to use on my final project (and challenge entry).

I wanted to see how a very detailed stamp would work with this technique, so I pulled out this large hot air balloon from the Up, Up & Away! kit (February 2013)

Despite not being a solid stamp, it has a compact, detailed design that works well with this technique.

Here's my final card. Thanks for making it to the end of this blog entry. Hope you join me on October 30 for Club Scrap's blog hop featuring this month's kit: Lock & Key.
